How Yoga Changed My Life

Product Description

This is a 30 day devotional journey to really connecting to the "source" and then using that power that Jesus left us. From my own personal experience, I never knew about any "relationship" or "Holy Spirit", and when I would hear people talk about how "God spoke to them" or the "Spirit" told them to do something, I would be in disbelief.....Until I met Him! Now He directs me everyday, and I want to share with the world what It really means to have a relationship with Jesus.

Robesonian | Southeastern Health doctor turns to yoga after wife's ... - The Robesonian

Everyone deals with stressors at some point in their lives, whether it be emotional, physical or mental. Somnath Naik, a physician who has worked and lived in Lumberton since 1982, stress presented itself in an unexpected way following his wife’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis. A self-described generally relaxed person, Naik found himself stressed emotionally as he dealt with the challenges caring for his wife of 40 years presented. “There is a tremendous amount of stress on families,” said Naik, who practices pulmonology and sleep medicine at Southeastern Health’s Southeastern Medical Specialists clinic in Lumberton. “There is both emotional and physical stress that you go through. Coping with the stress in his life took an interesting turn when Naik’s daughter encouraged him to attend a yoga class. “My daughter invited me to attend a few classes with her where she lives in Nashville,” he said. One year later, Naik’s interest in yoga has grown to a one-hour commitment three times each week at the Southeastern Lifestyle Fitness Center in Lumberton. “Yoga changed my life,” he said. “It helped me with what I am going through emotionally and it helped me pay closer attention to my own body — I started to respect and love my body more. While Naik says he enjoys all aspects of his yoga classes, he particularly enjoys the relaxation and meditation aspects. “The classes are enjoyable, refreshing and motivational,” he said. For anyone looking for a way to relieve stress, Naik suggests attending a yoga class to get the full experience with a group of peers as well as a live instructor. “Once your body adjusts to the class, you will automatically know the importance, the euphoria, the happiness that it brings,” he said. “Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.” “Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” I thought i would repost this...Read if you like.... In life, we may find it easy to allow ourselves to love and accept multitudes of other people, but when it comes to loving ourselves we're not as forgiving. In fact, we can be quite relentless in our pursuit of perfection. So, how then do you learn to put aside all the shoulds and should nots we face, and really begin a love affair with yourself? The first step is to realize that you are somebody. You're a friend, someone's daughter or son, possibly a lover, an employee or employer, or maybe even someone's spouse. No matter how your role changes, you're still somebody. Nothing will ever change that. The next step is to take time out to actually love yourself. In romantic relationships it is...

hippo love -- a story of two paintings : painting, scott richard, san francisco (2010)
PRESS PLAY i made two of these paintings for the same person. in the end, i gained another one of my "sorry for pulling the rug out from under you" stories which i so enjoy sharing. these stories are fraught with the naivety of my own self, which just goes to show that toleration and kindness are truly gifts to the world. and, like any good gift, it is easily traded for something else. like drugs. anyway, back to the story. i lived on mount davidson when i first moved up to the city for the third time (1989, 1991, and 2010). and moving to the city is always a big deal for me. i dread social interaction, but i also love it. i'm fascinated by people, but i'm also a hyper processor of information and that makes it hard for others to be around me -- i'm a bit like a machine that won't stop working. only certain types of personality types can put up with this kind of behavior. and i know this, so i keep mostly to myself. but street photography was becoming a great...

Bill Olen
Bill Olen
I first met my friend Bill Olen at the strangely named “International Stage Movement Institute” in Dallas Texas in the summer of 1971. We had come to drink from the well of movement innovation and weren’t sure what it was we were looking for. The first time I saw Bill he was wearing very brief shorts and a tattered Tshirt (very stylish at the time) and was pressing from a free standing handstand to a headstand. I was completely stunned. There was a complex combination of movements and yoga asanas that followed - which I later found out was a famous system popularized by Grotowski as theatre exercises. I was super impressed and intimidated, particularly when this impressive display was completed with Bill sitting in full lotus, a big smile on his face with that big crown of curling hair that looked so God-like. But as I got to know Bill over the summer and to make friends with him and our entire little covey of movement disciples, I came to know his wild laugh, his...
