The Big Hoot 2015 – 40. Mr Architect
Mr Architect shows how much the artist admires Birmingham’s eclectic mix of old and new buildings and contrasting architectural patterns, which form an integral part of Birmingham’s identity – from Victorian red brick, to Georgian elegance, through to the 1960s, and 70s tower-blocks, to the contemporary Selfridges building and Library of Birmingham. Artist: Sam Pierpoint Sam Pierpoint is an independent illustrator, with a background in graphic design. She currently lives in the nature-filled countryside of Dorset, in the new forest and she works in a quaint, log cabin at the bottom of the garden. Distressed Design
Distressed Design
This piece was created purely as a test. I wanted to try out a new technique for distressing letter art. Letterhead Fonts has a great YouTube video that describes this process and I wanted to try it out so I used my Twenty Third Psalm style as a guide and my favourite parchment background. Check out this video to see how you can distress text. In my version I played off the scratches in the original texture and applied those to the lettering. This was just a test, but I like it!
