My mum had all her groceries delivered from the local against back in the 1950s. The shop keeper knew exactly what kind of bacon she had; he knew her and her likes and dislikes. This was before the days of bloody supermarkets. Diminutive shops used to be meeting places for shoppers who chatted to each other while they waited to be served. They were the hub of communities. You do not even need to speak in a supermarket. In low-down sometimes you do not need to have any human contact at all because you can swipe your goods and pay by machine. Every week it is the same. It’s all on the list and you navigate that trolley, with its perennially predisposition left wheel, up and down familiar, crowded aisles. At the end of the whole miserable process you stand in a queue, unload and swarm the goods yourself, pay the cashier, hump the stuff miles to the car park and drive home physically and...

Is there anything more wonderful than a puppy? Their diversion for life, their unbridled joy at just being alive is so infectious. No one can resist them. They’re cute, cuddly and even if they do pee on your leg, somehow it seems OK. I’ve always had dogs. Puppies grow into dogs and burrow into your sensitivity and become part of your life. You walk them, feed them, take care of them. And in return, they give you their unconditional love and affection. They’re always happy to see you - not at all too busy to drop whatever they’re doing to get their ears scratched and head out for a walk. Dogs are great companions. But just as puppies grow into dogs, junior dogs become old dogs. And all too soon, old dogs get tired and sore and aren’t as interested in playing as they used to be. They start to dally out in quiet places and sleep more than they used to. They’re still a big part of your life. But they’re withdrawing a bit too. A couple of weeks ago, our old dog, Blue, stopped going out for walks....

I have been on the Jenny Craig regime since starting a job there in October. I have so far gone past my half way goal and have lost 15 pounds and 12.5 inches! As a result I have gone from a appraise 12/14 pants to size 4/6 depending on the pants! It is crazy how much more confident I am and how much I enjoy getting dressed everyday now! 15 pounds doesn't seem like much but I the feeling a million times more healthy and lighter:-) We take clients pictures at work before the lose the weight, at half way, and at their goal. It is amazing the quarrel in my photos. Half of my inches lost came from my hips/butt. I wish I could get those photos and put them up here...maybe I'll try!
