Participants will weave a Shaker basket made of ash. Instructor Karen Wychock is a colleague of the Bucks County Craftsmen’s Guild and the PA Guild of Craftsmen. Led by calligraphy artist Lori Yatron of Living Dialogue Calligraphy, this calligraphy... Participants will learn and practice the tighter spacing between letters and between words when using this hand. Participants will write out a longer be upset of text. After discussing simple layout and some design concepts, students will plan and write out a rough draft then a good carbon copy of a quote or passage of the students’ choice. The exhibit commemorates the 300th anniversary of Palatine Germans arriving at the port of Philadelphia. It highlights the experience of 18th century Mennonite immigrants, their motivations and make of migration, and how they settled in eastern Pennsylvania. This was the first doll I ever purchased from that city and have since found a number of others that I have added to my chrestomathy. They are 12" tall and similar in construction to Mattel's Barbie (but at least they don't have that silly cheerleader grin).
